Chuck has moved from the seminal indy-band Green On Red into one of Triple AAA Radio's most-played artists. His distinctive voice is the perfect match for songs like "Summertime Thing", "Just to See You Smile" and current fave "The Freckle Song". Realworld recording artist Daby Toure' comes to the baby grand for a special Arden Concert Gild event on Monday August 4, 2008 at 8 PM. More info to come! Dengue Fever (with Cordero) Sunday March 2, 2008 An amazing amalgum of surf guitar, Ethiopian jazz, and Cambodian pop that filled the hall thanks in part to XPN sponsorship, WVUD support, and a great Terry Gross interview. (Philly Inqu review here, Ron's review of their album here) Bethany and Rufus Saturday February 16, 2008 Bethany Yarrow (vocals and bass) and Rufus Cappadocia treated us to an evening of jazzy re-interpreted folk songs and amazing cello and Viola da Gamba solos. Pictures are here. Buckwheat Zydeco (Sold Out!) Friday February 1, 2008 The great Buck showed us he is still a young man, rocking the house for over 2 straight hours. Everyone stood from the moment the music started, and the dancing was non-stop. Kids joined the band onstage for bead throwing and singing. Animus Saturday January 12, 2008 This band from Philly brought a world of music and dance to Gild Hall, fascinating dance, brilliant virtuosity. Photos are available here. Old Springs Pike (Sold Out!) Saturday December 22 2007 Local band makes good! Now selling out shows all over New York City, Old Springs Pike made a triumphant return to Delaware in their first appearance in Arden. The band showed us the vigor and creativity of youth and revealed an already impressive catalog of original songs. Morgan State University Choir Friday November 30, 2007 Morgan State brought a widely varied program to Gild Hall: Gershwin, Wagner, Beethoven, Spirituals, and Gospel style Holiday tunes. The closing sprituals were amazing! Photos Tinariwen (at The Grand) Sunday November 18, 2007 A happy and grooving crowd witnessed Mali desert music with its unique rhythms, moved to the growling guitar sounds of this fine band. The dancer of the group reminded many of a certain "King of Arden." Darbari Ensemble Saturday November 10, 2007 A gorgeous combination of melodic Indian instruments coupled with Tabla was brought to Gild Hall by Ramesh Misra (Sarangi), Steve Gorn (Flute), Samir Chatterjee (Tabla), Allyn Miner (Sitar) in this event co-sponsored by Sangeet Society. Photos here Grey Eye Glances Saturday October 27, 2007 Local favorites and major label stars of the 90s, Grey Eye Glances filled the hall with diehard fans who thrilled to a warm and exciting evening of pop and progressive rock. Pictures here. Angel Band Saturday October 20, 2007 Angel Band provided a rousing series of roots music renditions. With a new CD in the can and expected in Feb 2008, the band treated Arden to a bunch of new songs. Joe del Tufo's pictures are here. Oliver Mtukudzi and Black Spirits (at The Grand) Sunday October 7, 2007 In the second of our World Music shows at The Grand, Arden as co-sponsor brought in "The Lion of Zimbabwe" for an exciting dance filled evening in downtown Wilmington. Ron Ozer's pictures are here. The Roches (Sold Out!) Saturday September 15, 2007 The Roches brought a great selection of old favorites and new songs from their album Moonswept. Lucy Roches opened this sold out show. Pictures are available online. Matt Casarino and Brian Turner 4th Annual Arden Summer Music Festival A gorgeous summer day filled the Grove with Revelers who enjoyed 5 bands in an all day music fest. The Tall Pines won fans with a fine set of southern rock. Joseph Tayoun brought middle eastern rhythms and belly dancing to our stage. Last Train Home featured their new album, featuring consummate country songwriting by Eric Brace. Mikey Jr was back, blowing a mean blues harp, and bringing the crowd to its feet. The Greencards were a wonderful cool breeze filled with instrumental raveups and beautiful singing from their latest album Viridian. Pictures of the fest by Joe del Tufo are online. Sonny Landreth Angelique Kidjo (Arden co-sponsored show at The Grand) Duncan Sheik Duncan appeared with Holly Brook who opened the show and then joined him with a string quartet and Doug Yowell on drums for a survey of Duncan's career in pop music, including a suite of songs from his now Tony winning (8 awards!) Broadway musical, Spring Awakening (featuring Tony winner and Delaware native John Gallagher Jr.). Joe del Tufo's pictures can be seen here.
